South Gloucestershire Local Development Framework

Following the introduction of the new planning system in 2004, ‘Local Plans’ have been replaced by ‘Local Development Frameworks’ (LDFs). The Local Development Framework is a collection of planning documents that set out the Council’s policies and proposals for the development and use of land.

There is an overview of South Gloucestershire’s LDF and links to information about the various documents on the South Gloucestershire Council’s Website

At the heart of the Local Development Framework is the ‘Core Strategy’. Click here to view the Core Strategy document and to read about its progress. In December 2011 the Council published a revised version incorporating “Post Submission Changes” which propose an increase in housing numbers from the 21,500 in the original version to 26,400. This is causing us some concern especially because to accommodate this number of new dwellings they wish to remove areas of land on the North Bristol fringe from the Green Belt. We are submitting a response to this during the consultation period.

CPRE South Gloucestershire committee members have attended workshop events and responded to the various documents which have been produced relating to the Core Strategy since the process started in 2008.
