Sue Gawler

Sue Gawler, Chair of CPRE South Gloucestershire District Committee, died suddenly at home on December 5th 2007. She was a leading figure in CPRE locally and had worked tirelessly as a champion of the local countryside and rural communities.

As well as responding on behalf of CPRE to many damaging planning proposals and attending a wide variety of meetings as our representative, Sue encouraged and advised many local individuals and groups who wanted to challenge planning applications. She had also organised the Village of the Year competition in the former Avon area for a number of years and was “caterer in chief ” for CPRE events.

Sue had received a Hero of Gloucestershire award in recognition of the contribution that she had made to many local organisations including CPRE.  Her loss is keenly felt by the South Gloucestershire District Committee and her contribution to our work will long be remembered.
