Local Food and Agricultural Land
We recognise the importance of local food production as a bedrock of sustainability and this is very dependent on the availability of agricultural land close to the urban and rural communities in the Avonside area.
High quality agricultural land is under increasing threat from development, especially given the high prices which developers offer to landowners and the pressure on councils to find areas for the large scale housing developments demanded by the government.
Agricultural land was the chosen topic of the two speakers at the Avonside CPRE AGM held in November 2009. Click the links below to see a summary of their talks and for a copy of our press release on the subject.
