Waste

There has been some consultation in the West of England group of councils (with comprises of Bristol, B&NES, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset) on how waste should be tackled in the future and the B&NES group of CPRE attended the local meeting and provided input. A particular concern was the appraisal process and its treatment of changes in landfill charges in the comparative analysis.

The Consultation Report and supporting background documents are now being finalised and the results drawn from this consultation will feed into the Preferred Options stage of the Development Plan and into the emerging Joint Waste Strategy.

We will clearly need to keep monitoring this area.
